The Backstory

The afternoon of Sunday, 8 January 2023 presented a break in precipitation and an above freezing temperature. I love photography’s ability to preserve scenes of nature for us to honor at our leisure.

  1. Oh, my goodness! These are some of the most beautiful pictures you’ve ever posted. They feel like paintings to me because they are almost abstract. I could not figure out what the first image was – then I read the text (smile). The tree in the second image feels so large that it is trying to escape the margins on each side of the photo and the colors are so soft! Your final image is delightfully messy – yet ethereal. The reflection of the sun is clearly the focal point while remaining soft. I like all the different textures in the leaves, the ice and the mud. Wonderful work, Michael.

    1. Hi Susie, Your comments confirm that I have crossed some kind of line in my progression as an artist. Your tutelage has been key to that process, although we have had no formal arrangement. Thank you! Michael
